Kirkconnel Community Transport Project

The Society has secured funding to purchase and operate a 16 seater minibus for the communities in Upper Nithsdale!

Working in conjunction with the Accessible Transport Forum and in response to a public consultation in the pilot area of Kirkconnel/Kelloholm, the Project will provide a much needed transport service for various activities.  The project will also train volunteer drivers and will provide a part-time administrative post, funded by Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Dumfries & Galloway Council, Kirkconnel Mineral Trust, Help the Aged, Building Healthy Communities, The Robertson Trust, Scottish Community Foundation and Kirkconnel Parish Heritage Society.

To use the minibus groups must become a member of the Minibus Project.  There is an annual fee of £20.  Users of the minibus must be a member of a user group.

Interim fees have been agreed as follows:

£10 booking fee (non returnable/non-transferable)

60p per mile (for the first 60 miles) 45p per mile thereafter
