Making It Happen
 Making It Happen

Established to revitalise the popular Polbower Burn area of Kirkconnel.

The Baker's Burn Nature-Based Tourist Trail is a fundamental part of Kirkconnel Parish Heritage Society's 'Making It Happen' project. This project was launched to rejuvenate the popular Polbower Burn area of the village, known locally as the Baker's Burn.

The society was able to establish the project when funding was secured in 2005 and work began during the winter months of the same year. Once this funding was in place, the building of bridges, laying of paths and general restoration of the location was started.

The trail features nine bridges and stretches for approximately 1.5 miles, a proportion of this being fairly rugged and of rough terrain. Along the trail five interpretation boards provide information on the natural life as well as some background knowledge of the history of the Baker's Burn.

Please note that when walking the trail sensible clothing and footwear are essential. Additonally, whilst enjoying the trail, please ensure that the Scottish Outdoor Access Code is adhered to.
